2Co 5:1 For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. (NKJV)

In this verse, "our earthly house, this tent (tabernacle)" is referring to our physical body. The word "destroyed" then is referring to the death of our mortal bodies, our "earthly" body. We all will face this death at some point in our lives. When that time comes, it will be the end of our physical life as we know it. However, our soul and spirit will be separated from our body and will continue into another reality. Our body is temporary but now we will have a different state of consciousness. A different awareness. We will be able to see a whole new reality that we could not see before we died. What will we encounter? Let's take a look at another verse, one that soon follows.

2Co 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.
